Daniel Craig made quite a statement with his latest appearance at the second annual Albie Awards held on the red carpet. Leaving his James Bond days far behind, the 55-year-old actor unveiled a striking new hairstyle – a retro quiff style, elegantly swept to one side.
This fashion-forward choice was showcased during his attendance at the charity event in New York City on the evening of September 28th.
To complement his vintage-inspired hair, Craig wore wire-frame glasses and a stylish dark blue double-breasted suit. His ensemble was perfectly completed with a navy bow tie, exuding an air of sophistication.
On the red carpet, Craig was accompanied by his wife, Rachel Weisz, who turned heads in a black and white floor-length gown adorned with an abstract print.
The star-studded Albie Awards were organized by George and Amal Clooney’s Clooney Foundation for Justice. The event was a celebration of “courageous defenders of justice who are at great risk for what they do” and was named after Justice Albie Sachs, the South African anti-apartheid activist.
In addition to Daniel Craig and Rachel Weisz, other notable attendees included Emily Blunt, Anne Hathaway, Matt Damon, Cindy Crawford, and Scarlett Johansson.
In an interview earlier this year with The Guardian, Weisz, 53, expressed her preference for a private life, saying, “Celebrity – it doesn’t really mean anything to me.” She emphasized that maintaining a private life is effortless for her and added, “I don’t even know what ‘celebrity’ means. I don’t think of myself like that.”
The couple’s story dates back to the 1990s when they first crossed paths as rising stars. Both worked together in a production of Les Grandes Horizontales at the National Theatre Studio. However, they didn’t begin dating until they reconnected on the set of the movie Dream House in 2010. They married the following year and welcomed their daughter, Grace, in 2018.
Additionally, Craig has a daughter named Ella from his first marriage to actor Fiona Loudon, while Weisz shares a son, Henry, with director Darren Aronofsky, with whom she was in a relationship for nine years.
Interestingly, Martin Campbell, the director of Casino Royale, once admitted to initial hesitation in casting Daniel Craig as 007, as he didn’t fit the traditional mold of a handsome leading man.
